Woodbrook House, part of the historic Woodbrook estate near Bray, has long been associated locally with stories of unexplained disturbances. While the building itself is historically documented, reports of paranormal activity stem largely from personal testimonies rather than archival sources.
According to one modern account, a young couple who briefly lived in the property experienced a series of unusual events that appeared minor at first, such as doors closing unexpectedly and lampshades moving without explanation. Over time, the incidents were said to intensify. On one occasion, a bathroom door allegedly became bolted from the outside while one of the occupants was inside, despite no one else being present. Residents also described hearing the sounds of furniture being dragged at night, even though the dwelling consisted of a single storey.
Some witnesses claimed that noticeable temperature variations occurred around the perimeter of the house during the night, with the immediate surroundings reportedly several degrees colder than nearby areas. Local stories also suggest that a previous occupant experienced similar disturbances, eventually leaving the property after a period of apparent distress, though these claims remain unverified and form part of local legend rather than documented history.
