Have you visited Wexford Gaol, and did you have an experience you could not explain? Click “Add Your Experience” and share your story.
Wexford Gaol was constructed in 1812 and originally served as the main prison for the area. After the Irish War of Independence ended in 1921, the facility was taken over by the newly established Free State government and repurposed as a military barracks.
At its peak, Wexford Gaol housed around 60 prison cells, surrounded by towering walls over 20 feet high. The complex also included 16 exercise yards. In front of the prison was a public square used for executions until the 1860s.

I believe the property is now used as an office and educational space.
Wexford Gaol is either closed or it may be a private or inaccessible property.
Sometimes, reports of alleged hauntings are too vague to include without question. A site user – or another source – may have referenced paranormal activity at this location, but so far I’ve been unable to verify it. If you have additional information, you can suggest an amendment here.
