The Wellington Bridge (also known as the Graiguecullen Bridge) dates to 1569 and connects Carlow Town with Graiguecullen.

In the mid-nineteenth century, Mrs Kelly operated a small shop near the bridge on the Carlow side. In 1870, she was accused of under-weighing goods in her store, and leaving customers short. Kelly protested her innocence but the damage was done. A number of people reported seeing her ghost on or around the Graiguecullen Bridge, and in 1935 an exorcism was carried out here in an attempt to give her soul peace.
