Built in 1705 for the Uniake family, the Red House takes its name its name from the red bricks that were used during its construction. Red bricks in Munster during this time were a rarity.

Designed and constructed by a Dutch architect and builder, the house is heavily influenced by Dutch architecture with there being a successful shipping trade between Ireland and Holland at the time.

It is rumoured to be haunted by a friendly and calming ghost of a nun who is said to rearrange the clothing of visitors.
