Perched 1,520 feet above sea level, this narrow, single-lane mountain road links County Kerry to County Cork. According to legend, a priest on horseback, pursued by English soldiers, performed a miraculous leap across the gap into County Cork to evade capture. To this day, the imprints of the horse and rider are said to be etched into nearby rocks, and the ghostly figure of the priest is believed to haunt the mountain pass.
