Built in 1746, Lifford Old Courthouse functioned as both a courthouse and county jail until it ceased operations as a courthouse in 1938. Today, it serves as a popular tourist attraction.
Nightwatchmen at the site have reported eerie occurrences, with objects mysteriously moving on their own, heightening the sense of paranormal activity.
One of the most intriguing tales from the courthouse dates back to the 1860s. Francis Bradley was put on trial for the murder of Adam Grierson, but each time, the jury was unable to reach a verdict. During the third trial, a priest attempted to summon Grierson’s ghost. As the priest called for the spirit, the sky darkened, and the sound of horses whinnying outside was heard. The judge ordered the priest to stop, and the sky quickly returned to normal. Despite the strange event, the jury once again failed to reach a verdict.
