Planted in the 18th century, this avenue of beech trees was designed to create a dramatic approach to Gracehill House. Today, the Dark Hedges are famous worldwide as a filming location for HBO’s Game of Thrones, but their reputation extends beyond the screen into the realm of the paranormal.

According to local legend, a mysterious Grey Lady wanders beneath the interlocking branches before vanishing near the final tree. Her identity remains uncertain: some believe she was a housemaid who died in mysterious circumstances, while others claim she is a lost soul from a nearby forgotten graveyard. In one particularly eerie version of the tale, the spirits of the dead are said to rise from their graves on 12 June and walk alongside her.

In October 2014, Gordon Watson, discovered something unusual when he reviewed photographs that he had taken at the site. Is this the grey lady? What do you think?
