Built in 1825, Temple House is a grand Georgian mansion overlooking a serene lake and the atmospheric ruins of a former Knights Templar castle. Now operating as a country guest house, the estate has been home to the Perceval family since 1665. With 97 rooms of varying size and style, the house sits amid sprawling grounds that feature a lake, an island, and the haunting remnants of the medieval castle.
But beyond its picturesque setting, Temple House is said to be alive with paranormal activity.
One en suite bedroom is reportedly visited by the spirit of a kind woman named Nora, who is known to sit gently on the bed and chat with guests in a friendly, familiar manner.
In another part of the house – the Guest Bedroom Corridor – visitors have glimpsed the spectral figure of a man seated at a writing desk at twilight, scribbling forgotten letters to long-lost lovers, bathed in the soft, coloured light streaming through etched glass windows.
An American psychic once stayed at Temple House and declared it teeming with spirits. She claimed to have seen the ghosts of knights still lingering among the castle ruins, as if standing watch over centuries long past.
