The building that would become the Táin Holiday Village took many forms previously. First operating as a mansion, a training centre for priests and finally as a secondary school. With the Táin Holiday Village opening in 1994, it attracted visitors north and south and it boasted many amenities including a restaurant, supermarket, a bar, swimming pool and many outdoor activities as well. In 2007, the Táin Holiday Village permanently closed for good. Since then, the building has become dilapidated.
However, photographers, paranormal investigators and urban explorers have witnessed paranormal phenomena including unexplained footsteps, doors slamming, blood curdling screams, children’s laughter and even seen the apparition of a boy. Whether these hauntings stem from its time as a religious institute or as a holiday village is unknown.
In January 2023, the structure was demolished.
