The Step House Hotel, nestled in the picturesque village of Borris, has been welcoming guests since 2007. Prior to that, the building served as a traditional pub. Today, it houses both the 1808 Bar, a classic Irish pub, and The Cellar Restaurant, known for its warm ambiance and refined cuisine.

But beyond its elegance and history, the hotel is also said to have a haunted side.

During renovations, builders working in the courtyard reported seeing a woman standing at the window of a top-floor room. Concerned—since the area was unsafe due to ongoing construction—they rushed upstairs, only to find the room empty.

In another chilling encounter, a practicing medium dining at The Cellar Restaurant requested a tour of the hotel. After exploring, she revealed that the spirit of a butler and a maid from a bygone era still linger, faithfully carrying out their duties in the restaurant. She also identified one guestroom as the dwelling of a young girl’s spirit—believed to have tragically fallen to her death from its window into the courtyard below.

Several staff members have reported strange activity in that same room. The television has been found blaring at full volume, despite no guests being checked in and no signs of anyone having entered.
