In the 1950s, locals were perplexed when they spotted a woman in white standing in the middle of a field on the Staplestown Road. Some witnesses would report that the woman looked sad, while others said she was waving. If anyone went to approach her, she would step back before eventually vanishing. A medical centre now stands where the field would have been at Clayton Hall, but more recent sightings have been reported around the railway bridge.
