Built in 1810, this five-acre estate near the River Slaney stands on the grounds of a former 13th-century Franciscan monastery. When the property went up for sale in 2021, it’s features included the main house with three en suite bedrooms, a two-bedroom cottage, a tree-lined avenue, a courtyard, a stable block, and a two-acre paddock.

The site is reputedly haunted by the ghost of a hooded monk, said to appear to those staying on the property.

One visitor, an Englishwoman named Judie Ward, even credited the spirit with saving her life. She recalled:

One of the doors to an upstairs room began rattling violently, as if someone inside was trying to get out. I opened it and found no one there—but a candle had burned down and started a fire. I ran in and managed to put it out. If I hadn’t caught it in time, the whole house could have gone up.
