Opened in 1866, this hospital in Letterkenny served patients for over a century. Like many institutions of its era, overcrowding and insufficient funding resulted in deplorable conditions. With leaking pipes and dark, oppressive hallways, the hospital became a haunting scene where the anguished cries of patients echoed through the building, reminiscent of a Victorian-era horror story.
Those who experienced life within the hospital, along with the families of its residents, recount the harrowing conditions endured there. The less fortunate were buried in unmarked graves at Leck Cemetery after the authorities abandoned the original disposal site.
Paranormal investigators suggest that the building is haunted by restless spirits, with reports of strange lights, unexplained noises, and shadowy figures lurking in the abandoned corridors.
