In 2012, a newly assigned tour guide reportedly captured photographic evidence of a ghostly monk emerging from a wall and gazing at the guide and his son. The photos also revealed a nun and a man kneeling at what was once the altar. Locals have frequently reported sightings of this ghostly monk walking through the abbey’s walls, so much so that he has earned the nickname “Christy the Monk.” This 10th-century abbey is said to be his haunt.
