In 1976, Eric Cuthbert was walking his dog late one night near the St Brigid’s / Pearse Park area when he noticed a figure standing ahead of him, its back turned. At first he thought it wore an ordinary robe, but as he drew closer he realised it was a nun’s habit. The figure slowly turned to face him—yet had no face at all. Terrified, Cuthbert fled home.

He later claimed further disturbances over the years—heavy breathing in the night and a statue that seemed to glow in the dark—and came to believe the apparition was somehow linked to a religious effigy discovered decades later.
