In 1760, a vicious storm broke out during the construction of numbers 119 & 120 St. Stephen’s Green. When workers returned soon after, they were horrified to discover the lifeless body of a young woman, floating in the waterlogged footprint of the new development.

Work eventually resumed and the buildings were completed, but some residents complained that there was a “sinister” atmosphere on the site and that they felt as if they were being watched.

Number 119 is now home to a popular American style steak house called Shanahan’s on The Green. While the owner acknowledges “reports” of a ghost on the premises and references the tragedy that occurred in the eighteenth century, no specific examples are given as to what (if any) phenomena has been reported here in recent times.
