Scrabo Tower in Newtownards is one of the borough’s most recognisable landmarks—and it’s not without its legends. Visitors have reported hearing whispers and unexplained banging sounds echoing through the tower late at night. Some even claim to have seen a woman in period dress descending the tower’s curved staircase.

Locally, children grew up with chilling warnings: they were told a witch lived in the tower, and the red light at its peak was said to be her glowing eye, always watching.
