Many years ago, a man spotted a gentleman dressed in a long, black cloak standing on Queens Bridge and staring into the watery abyss below. Thinking there was something a little odd going on, he turned to his friend and gestured for him to take a look, but when they turned around, the man had vanished. The sense of curiosity turned to one of horror as they realised that the man must have jumped off the bridge. They ran across to see if they spot him in the water and offer assistance, but there was no sign of him. They alerted a police constable who came to have a look for himself, before he shared that several others had recently reported seeing the same gentleman on this spot, and that each time he had vanished – presumably into the water.

Slightly confused by their encounter that morning, they continued on to the shipyard where they both worked. They asked their colleagues if they had seen anything strange, but they were not taken seriously…until few weeks later. Another employee saw the same figure standing on the bridge. A policeman also saw the figure and deliberately kept watch, but after observing him for five minutes, he witnessed the man leaping from the bridge. Again, there was no evidence of anyone (human) entering the water.
