In 2002, a newly built housing development in Ardoyne, North Belfast, became the centre of intense paranormal reports. Even before the houses were completed, the site had a reputation among locals for strange, unexplained activity. Once families moved in, the disturbances became so persistent—and so widely discussed—that the Northern Ireland Paranormal Research Association (NIPRA) was asked to investigate in an effort to help the affected residents.
The situation grew serious enough that the local parish priest was brought in to bless several of the homes.
One particular house was said to be haunted by the spirit of a young boy. Residents described seeing him sitting quietly at the top of the stairs, appearing and disappearing without a sound. Although he never behaved aggressively, the repeated sightings left the occupants deeply unsettled, especially as the child appeared frequently and with unmistakable clarity.
The Ardoyne development remains one of the most well-documented modern haunting cases in Belfast, noted for both the volume of eyewitness accounts and the involvement of paranormal investigators and clergy alike.
