In 2004, a woman named Pamela reported that her family home on Walkinstown Avenue, in the Dublin suburb of Walkinstown, was haunted by the spirit of a former resident—Margaret O’Connor. Margaret, who had lived in the house before spending her final years in a nursing home, passed away in 1994 at the age of 98. According to Pamela, the spirit appeared to disapprove of her, her husband, and their four children occupying what had once been Margaret’s home.
Pamela described sensing a chilling presence throughout the house, particularly on the staircase, where the atmosphere often turned noticeably cold. In one instance, she claimed to have captured a photograph showing the ghostly figure of an elderly woman bent over a walking stick—believed to be Margaret.
The most disturbing incident occurred one morning when Pamela entered the kitchen and stepped on shattered glass. Looking around, she realized a lightbulb had burst without warning, scattering fragments across the floor. Pamela took this as a sign that she had somehow angered the spirit.
Desperate to restore peace, Pamela enlisted friends and neighbours to recite prayers throughout the home. The house was blessed three separate times, and she even began considering an exorcism to help the spirit move on.
