This fine, 200 year old Georgian house is located in Abbeyleix. The period home has been lovingly restored and is available for private bookings.
The property is reputedly haunted by the ghost of Paddy Mulhall, a businessman and former owner. The distinctive scent of cigar smoke has been detected in the hallway and in one of the rooms, and this is attributed to him. Locals say that he rarely smoked but that he did like the occasional cigar. I guess that means the ghost is quite content, so perhaps he shouldn’t be told that smoking is no longer allowed!
