The ‘White House,’ as it’s commonly known at the University of Limerick, has long been a symbol of higher education and also functions as a restaurant. However, this stunning building carries with it a haunting past. It is said to be haunted by the ‘White Lady,’ a spectral figure often seen by fishermen and barge workers along the banks of the River Shannon. Inside, the house is adorned with several works of art, carefully chosen by someone well-versed in the building’s hidden history. Among these pieces are a marble bust of Lady Mont-eagle and an 18th-century painting titled Woman in White, both believed to eerily resemble the vision seen by those who witnessed the ghostly apparition along the river.
