The original Balbriggan Town Hall operated from 1936 until its closure in 2005. Following a redevelopment of the site, a new town hall opened its doors in 2006.
During her time working in the old building, former employee Mary McNamara reported frequent sightings of a ghostly figure she nicknamed the “Brown Man.”
According to Mary, the apparition often appeared leaning against the left wall of the old ballroom. He resembled a man wearing a brown overcoat, reminiscent of a vintage military uniform.
“He never said or did anything, but if you looked directly at him, he’d vanish,” she recalled. “Maybe it was just my imagination—but I really don’t think so.”
