Witnesses have reported seeing the spirit of an elderly woman wrapped in a shawl along a long stretch of road between Newbridge and Athgarvan. Described as hunched over, carrying a bag, and walking slowly, she is said to silently accompany travelers for a short distance. Those who have encountered her claim that she gradually fades away, disappearing just before reaching the graveyard.
