Moyross is a large suburb and council estate located on the north side of Limerick City. Developed in the 1970s and 1980s as part of a major public housing initiative, it is often cited as the largest housing estate in Limerick.
Over the years, the area has been associated with various paranormal reports. Local residents have claimed that certain parts of Moyross are built over an old graveyard, though definitive historical records confirming this remain unclear. Nonetheless, these stories have contributed to a reputation for hauntings.
One widely shared account involves the ghost of an elderly woman, seen descending the stairs of a home before passing an open sitting room—where the family were present—then vanishing through the front door. The event was reportedly witnessed by a babysitter and two children, who were left visibly shaken by the experience.
Another frequently mentioned sighting is that of a young girl in a white communion dress, said to appear wandering the streets late at night. According to local lore, she died tragically in a house fire, and her spirit is believed to linger in the area.
