For many years, this property on Mount Street in Mullingar was known as “the haunted house”. In February 1846, Brian Seery was hanged in front of the nearby jail, where Mullingar Arts Centre now stands. It is said that someone was leaning out of the upper floor window of the haunted house when the window suddenly came down and broke their neck. Their ghost was often seen looking out of the window towards the courthouse.
