McCarthy’s is a popular pub located in Fethard, Co. Tipperary. The business was established in the 1840s and once served as a “one stop shop” for all needs. Today, the venue serves as a well regarded pub and restaurant.
Many Irish families have a belief that a sign will be given foretelling of an iminent death in the family. For the McCarthy’s, this took the form of a picture flying off a wall or three sharp taps being heard on the door when there was noone on the other side. Ghosts have also reportedly been seen in the bar itself.
