Although the original building has since been demolished, Lohunda House in Clonsilla was once the source of a quiet but enduring local paranormal tale.
According to accounts from the area, an elderly woman who lived nearby passed away many years ago and left her beloved Irish wolfhounds to the owner of Lohunda House. He cared for the dogs faithfully, allowing them into his home and giving them free run of the surrounding grounds, then known as Lohunda Park.
Not long after the woman’s death, a young boy living across the road began noticing the figure of an elderly lady walking the estate grounds accompanied by Irish wolfhounds. Assuming she was a visitor, he mentioned the sighting to his mother, who in turn spoke to the owner of Lohunda House.
What happened next cemented the story into local folklore: The owner quietly acknowledged the apparition. He claimed that on several nights he had heard the voice of the deceased woman outside the house, calling softly to her wolfhounds as though continuing the nightly routines she had kept in life.
