In 1992, a reported haunting in the Clogher area near the village of Lixnaw, County Kerry, drew local attention when a mother of three, Hannah O’Connor, claimed she had been forced to abandon her bungalow after a series of disturbing experiences. According to contemporary reports, O’Connor had lived in the house for approximately a year before the incidents reached a breaking point.

She stated that not long after moving into the property she began hearing unexplained sounds at night – particularly what she described as faint crying or wailing. Each time she attempted to locate the source of the noise, however, she found nothing unusual. The disturbances reportedly continued intermittently for months.

The incident that finally caused her to leave the house allegedly occurred late one night while she was in bed with her one-year-old son. O’Connor later claimed that, as the room lay in darkness and she was preparing to sleep, she saw what she believed to be the apparition of a child enter the room. She reported that the figure approached the bed, pulled back the blankets, and appeared to tug at the infant’s legs, prompting her to grasp the child and resist. Deeply shaken by the experience, she gathered her children and left the property shortly afterwards, moving to stay with relatives in Ahabeg, several miles away.

Local speculation at the time suggested that the bungalow stood near the site of an earlier earthen fort, with some residents proposing that the surrounding land may once have contained older burials, though no definitive archaeological connection to the reported events was established.

A psychic investigator, Sandra Randhami, later visited the house and concluded — according to reported accounts — that the presence was that of a child spirit. She further suggested that the entity’s behaviour may have been misunderstood as threatening when it was, in her interpretation, attempting to interact playfully with the infant. Randhami subsequently carried out what was described as a cleansing or exorcism using traditional spiritual healing methods, which local reports claimed brought the disturbances to an end.
