A gruesome murder is believed to have taken place on Judges Road in the 1930s. During an international fair in Derry, a Turkish man, reputedly 136 years old and hailed as “the oldest man in the world,” was among the visitors. Despite his advanced age, he was remarkably spry and enjoyed a midnight walk one evening, during which he was ambushed and brutally killed.

According to Peter McCartney’s Parade of Phantoms, sightings of a ghostly figure wearing a fez have been reported along this desolate stretch of road. Witnesses describe the apparition as a weary man who vanishes abruptly at a point halfway down Judges Road.
