Iveagh House is a Georgian house located at 80-81 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin. The two houses that make up the property date to 1736 and were merged and remodeled after Benjamin Guinness (grandson of Arthur) acquired them in 1862. The property is now in use as a government building and is home to the Department of Foreign Affairs.

According to a local story, many, many years ago, a young servant was taken ill in the great house and she was not expected to survive. She pleaded with her protestant employers to allow a catholic priest to visit her, but her request was denied. She resorted to her rosary beads and began to pray, but her master caught her and snatched the beads from her hands, casting them out through the window.

To this day, the form of a glowing cross has been reported, appearing in one of the windows at the property, each year on Holy Thursday.
