Located just 9 miles south of Midleton, Inch Beach is a picturesque stretch of coastline surrounded by cliffs, rock pools, and rolling farmland. Popular with locals for its scenic beauty and tranquil atmosphere, the beach has also become known for unsettling paranormal reports.
One of the most well-known incidents occurred in 2009, when a young couple visited the beach at dusk to watch the sunset. While sitting quietly, they became disturbed by strange noises and decided to return to their car. As they chatted, both suddenly witnessed a tall, shadow-like figure moving from the rear of the car to the front. The shape was described as unusually thin and ambiguous in form, causing the girlfriend to scream and the boyfriend to sit in stunned silence. As they attempted to drive away, the boyfriend stopped the car briefly—only to see a bright, tennis ball-sized orb of light rapidly approaching the vehicle. Terrified, he accelerated and left the area immediately.
Another disturbing encounter was reported by two friends, Sophie and Jay, who were parked at Inch Beach around midnight. Without provocation, Sophie experienced an intense and sudden burst of anger. Though unexplained, it was later speculated that a spirit may have been influencing her mood. At around 1 a.m., the pair heard knocking on the van, and both saw a black shadow standing in front of them. Frightened, they fled. Curiously, when they returned a week later, the events repeated. Sophie again became inexplicably angry, while Jay reported a sudden sharp pain in his chest.
