The ruins of the 12th-century Cistercian Inch Abbey are situated on the northern bank of the River Quoile. Locally, it is said to be haunted by the spirits of the monks who once served there. Numerous witnesses have reported seeing ghostly figures of monks gliding through the nighttime mist, making their way across the river from Downpatrick back to the Abbey.
