On Collon Lane in Derry once stood a distinctive yellow-stone house that, at the time, sat on the rural outskirts of the city. The setting offered open countryside views and a sense of quiet, and the Morrison family believed they had found their perfect retreat. Today, the area has been absorbed into a built-up residential neighbourhood, but when the Morrisons first arrived it felt very much like a peaceful escape.
Unfortunately, that peace did not last. Soon after moving in, objects reportedly began flying across rooms without warning — everything from crockery to heavy chairs. These disturbances were said to occur at any time of day or night, leaving the family constantly unsettled. Mrs Morrison, anxious for her children’s safety, found herself living in near-constant fear.
At first, neighbours were reluctant to discuss what they knew. Only after repeated incidents did the local community share an unsettling belief: that the house was haunted by a poltergeist described as a large red-haired, bearded man. Whether the description came from earlier rumours or direct experience remains unclear, but it was passed on with enough certainty to alarm the family.
Blessings were carried out and candles were lit in an effort to drive out the presence, yet the disturbances continued. Eventually, the Morrisons accepted that their only option was to leave. Once they secured another home, they moved away from Collon Lane — and, according to the story, the strange activity ceased as soon as they departed.
