In 2007, an electrician was brought in to carry out work on a very old house near Athboy, Co. Meath. He was in the front bedroom connecting cables into the fuseboard when the temperature seemed to shift around him and the distinct, unshakeable feeling came over him that somebody was standing directly behind him. He turned around. The room was empty. The feeling didn’t leave with the looking. He packed up his tools and called it a day.
He came back the following morning. A plumber was on site at the same time, fitting a radiator in that same front bedroom. At some point during the work, the plumber stopped what he was doing. He had the same feeling – someone in the room with him, close by, watching. He said nothing about it until he came out of the room, visibly unsettled.

When the electrician mentioned what both of them had experienced to the homeowner, the owner seemed unconcerned – he hadn’t noticed anything unusual. But he did mention, almost in passing, that his elderly uncle had died in the house a few months earlier. In the front bedroom.

No further accounts of the property have come to light. The house is privately owned and its location within the Athboy area has not been specified.
