In the 1950s, a young boy was staying with relatives who rented a large house in Lenaderg, a small village near Banbridge in County Down. As evening drew in, his aunt asked him to bring in the washing from the clothesline in the back garden.

While gathering the laundry, the boy suddenly became aware of a white figure moving silently across the lawn toward him. Frozen with fear, he dropped everything and ran inside. So shaken was he by the encounter that he said nothing to his aunt at the time.

Years passed, and the boy eventually lost contact with that side of the family. But later in life, during a reunion, conversation turned to the old house in Lenaderg. Curious, he finally asked his aunt if she had ever seen anything strange there.

To his surprise, she admitted she had. She too had encountered the same white figure in the garden—and was so disturbed by the experience that she gave up the tenancy not long afterwards. No one in the family ever discovered the identity or origin of the apparition.
