In 2007, a resident of an old Georgian-style house near the village of Conna, County Cork, reported a series of disturbing paranormal events that began on the very first day of moving in. The property, located in a rural and isolated area with no nearby streets or neighbours, quickly gained a reputation for being unnaturally cold and unsettling.

According to the occupant, strange noises echoed throughout the house, with doors and windows slamming shut on their own. Disembodied voices were also heard, despite the home’s remote location. The resident’s dogs would frequently growl or bark in the middle of the night, appearing disturbed by an unseen presence.

One of the most unsettling aspects of the haunting was the persistent cold inside the house. Despite using central heating and lighting fires in the fireplace, the temperature remained freezing—even during the summer months. This icy chill only intensified in winter, defying any attempts to warm the home.

Guests often reported feeling uneasy, especially in one particular bedroom, ominously nicknamed the “death room.” The owner also captured several photographs inside the house, which appeared to show eerie faces in the windows and, in one image, the figure of a woman in a long dress.

After enduring 13 months of this unexplained activity, the occupant left the house.

There are also local rumours that a former owner practiced satanic rituals inside the home. Though unverified, these claims are often cited as a possible explanation for the intensity of the haunting.
