The theatre once stood on Fishamble Street, originally opened as Neale’s Musick Hall in 1741, later converted to a playhouse in 1777 and finally closed in 1867. During nineteenth-century repair work, a builder sleeping in the Green Room reported that precise rapping began every night at 10:00 p.m., continued for exactly fifteen minutes, and then stopped on the dot—repeating on subsequent nights with no source found. Later tellings keep the same timing and location (the Green Room wall) and note the building is long gone.
