A factory on Havana Street was long believed to be haunted by the spirits of an elderly couple who had died many years earlier. One night, a watchman was quietly reading in a small room when he suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of being watched. Looking up from his book, he saw the couple standing silently in the doorway, smiling gently at him. They remained there for an unnervingly long time before fading away without a sound. The watchman, frozen with terror throughout the encounter, fled the moment the apparitions vanished.
The area is also said to be haunted by the ghost of a British soldier killed during the Second World War. He reportedly died during one of the Belfast Blitz air raids when the position he was manning was struck. Witnesses have described seeing a confused, disheveled figure in military uniform wandering the vicinity – a spirit believed to be the fallen soldier, still searching for bearings he never regained in life.
