Several decades ago, a man travelled to Ballyhaise Junction by horse and cart to collect his wife and a female friend. On their journey home, they passed a house on Daisy Hill that had long been rumoured to be haunted. As they approached the house, a man emerged and asked for a lift. He joined the driver on the front seat, but soon after, the horse became agitated—frothing at the mouth and refusing to move. One of the women turned around and saw a second man gripping the back of the cart. Sensing something was wrong, she asked the passenger to step down. As soon as he did, the horse calmed and resumed the journey without issue.
It was later revealed that the man they had picked up was a murderer — and the figure clinging to the back of the cart was the ghost of the man he had killed.
