Corkagh House once stood on the Corkagh Demesne in Clondalkin. Built c.1650 and enlarged between 1702 and 1714, it was demolished in the early 1960s; the estate is now Corkagh Park.

On Easter Monday 1916, family and staff at the house reported hearing an army band and the tramp of marching feet coming along the Naas Road, through the rear gate at St John’s Road, and up the back avenue. Expecting an attack, they gathered inside—but the sounds stopped abruptly at the door. When the grounds were checked, no column was seen. The sounds were heard by multiple witnesses.

Corkagh Park, created from the former demesne, is a landscaped amenity of roughly 120 hectares. After dark, the atmosphere changes. Along a tree-lined path known locally as the Devil’s Passage, workers have said they felt watched and visitors describe an eerie hush. Some report a headless horseman galloping through the avenue; others say they’ve heard pounding hooves pass by when the path was deserted.
