Despite its modern interior, Connolly Station is in fact a very old and historic building which dates to 1844. Each day, thousands of people pass through it and most of them would not even have a moment to consider that it is haunted.
Security staff have heard footsteps when corridors and waiting areas have been closed for the night. One night in 2011, a security guard was on duty at the deserted station and was monitoring the cameras. He claimed that saw a figure resembling a soldier dressed in grey clothing walking along a disused platform. The guard went to investigate but there was no sign of the mysterious visitor. There was no way that he could have gotten in (or out) of the building without being seen.
Doors have also been known to open and close of their own accord, and there have been claims of poltergeist activity over the years. In addition, alleged paranormal activity at Madigan’s Bar which is located off the busy concourse, drew the attention of researchers back in 2011. But management prefers to keep quiet about this.
On the 31st May 1941, German forces dropped four bombs on the North Dublin area and 28 people were killed just metres from the station. Perhaps some of the victims are responsible for the alleged activity.
I’ve also seen reports that the ghost of a woman in late 19th century clothing has been seen near a staircase, and that she fades soon after the witness spots her.
