Cherryfield House, once the residence of the Mills family in 1778, is steeped in eerie legend. One family member is believed to have served as the High Sheriff of Roscommon at the time.
Following his death, stories emerged that his ghost haunted the estate. According to local lore, the spirit was confined to a specific room in the house—sealed with the understanding that it should never be opened. However, over the years, new occupants occasionally unlocked the room, often during renovations or for personal use, unaware of the ghostly presence within. Each time the room was disturbed, misfortune reportedly befell the household, manifesting as bad luck or ominous events.
Today, Cherryfield House stands abandoned, its haunted past still whispered about by locals.
