The sorrowful spirit of Sibeal Lynch is said to still mourn near Pierce Ferriter’s castle at the edge of the Dingle Peninsula.

Legend tells that a man named Pierce had taken the beautiful Sibeal from her people and made her his captive. Despite the circumstances, they found happiness together—until the day when Pierce’s enraged in-laws surrounded the castle. In an attempt to protect her, Pierce hid Sibeal in a cave by the sea, believing she would be safe. However, when the danger passed, he discovered with horror that she had been claimed by the rising tide, drowning before he could return.
