Castle Road, situated in Dundalk’s Seatown area, was once the scene of a brutal massacre of Franciscan monks by the followers of Edward Bruce in 1315. However, local ghost stories suggest that the road is haunted not by those ancient souls, but by more recent spirits. Witnesses have reported seeing apparitions dressed in relatively modern clothing, leading some to believe they could be the lingering spirits of former residents who once lived and worked in the area.
