The original Castle Park mansion dates to 1820. It was once a fine, private home, and successive owners took pride in developing the gardens and parkland that surrounded it. In 1904, the property was acquired by Wilfred P. Toone and he established a private school here. Today, the mansion still supports the school and is set within a more modern campus.

However, one of the former owners is said to haunt the grounds. According to a local story, she can be seen each night, at midnight (obviously), dashing on horseback across the lawn in front of the original building, “furiously lashing her whip”!
