Carrigogunnell Castle, constructed in the 1400s and reduced to ruins in 1691 during the Second Siege of Limerick, has stood in decay ever since. Legend has it that the ghost of a woman who once lived there wanders the ruins on dark nights, holding a flickering candle. Those who glimpse the eerie light and feel compelled to follow it are said to meet a tragic fate.
