Carnelly House, designed by architect Francis Bindon and completed in 1750, is considered the earliest example of Georgian architecture in County Clare.

According to local tradition, the remains of Maire Rua O’Brien — former mistress of nearby Leamaneh Castle — are believed to have been interred in a hollow tree on the grounds of the estate. Her ghost is said to haunt the driveway of Carnelly House, where sightings of a mysterious female figure have been reported.
