Built in the 17th century, this grand structure served as the ancestral home of the Barrymore family for generations until a devastating fire in 1771 reduced it to ruins. The castle was never rebuilt, but its tragic past lingers in the form of a spectral figure known as the Begging Boy.
This sorrowful apparition, a young boy, is said to roam the ruins, endlessly pleading for his life. His haunting presence is believed to replay the harrowing moments before he was cruelly murdered by a resident of the castle for an act of disobedience.
