The school was constructed during the 1930s and opened in 1940. In 1960, it was acquired by the De La Salle Brothers and it operated as a secondary school (with boarding) until its closure in 1989. The building remained empty for three decades and attracted the attention of urban explorers and paranormal investigators who were drawn by stories of full bodied apparitions. The ghost of a priest, a young boy and as many as four teachers are said to haunt the building. The sound of children laughing and even a bell ringing have been heard echoing through the deserted building.
As at 2024, work is underway to renovate and repurpose the building. It will be interesting to see if any of the ghosts remain once the refurbishment is complete.
